Panama Canal, Mira Flores Locks, Clayton, & Bridge of the Americas
The Mira Flores Locks are the last of the 3 locks allowing passage from the Atlantic to the Pacific Ocean before passing under the Bridge of the Americas separating North & South America. Across the street from the Mira Flores Locks lies Clayton also named Ciudad del Saber or City of Knowledge, once Ft Clayton, a US Army base until 1999 when it was transferred to Panamanian control under the Torrijos-Carter Treaty. It was also where I served as an Army Medic briefly from 1970 - 1972. It now serves as housing, schools, and offices.

Since I love to travel and try local food I will comment on my experiences, places, and food that I encounter so that others may be inspired to travel to the same locations with some insight into the local food , restaurants, culture, places to stay (hotels or airbnb) and hopefully avoid some of the pitfalls and tourist scams so not to waste time and money unnecessarily. I would also appreciate posts and comments on the same locations by others!
